There is a component of distribution in each stage of the food system. Production inputs and products are transported for either sale or further processing. Food is then distributed to the end user using various modes of sale. Finally waste may also be transported to disposal or secondary processing sites. Efficiencies and equity in the distribution phase of the food system can affect each component either positively or negatively.
